Oil Change in B14 SR20

Oil Change in B14 SR20

While this process is specifically done for the 200SX SE-R, the concepts are the same and can be applied to almost any other vehicle. Tools Needed

  • Jack
  • Two Jackstands
  • 14mm wrench
  • Funnel
  • Drain pan
  • New oil filter
  • Four quarts of motor oil
  • Step 1: Get ready

Raise the car up and put it on jackstands. The jacks go under the grooves where you are supposed to use the scissors jack when changing a tire.

    Step 2: Drain old oil

Locate the engine oil pan, and remove the 14mm bolt. Have the drain pan underneath ready to catch the oil running out.

Step 3: Remove old oil filter

Once the oil has drained, remove the old oil filter and compare with the new unit for same size.
Here are the two oil filters

Step 4: Install new filter, fill with oil

Lubricate the o-ring with new oil before screwing it on, make sure it is hand tight. The method I use is 1/2 to 3/4s of a rotation after contact is made between the engine block and the o-ring.

Fill 3 quarts, then start the car for one minute to let the oil circulate. Shut off the car, check the level with the dipstick and fill until the level is between the high and low marks.

    Step 5:

Now youre done! Lower the car, clean off your tools and such and enjoy!!
